Tartaria a modern ish reset?

Has anybody been to Tartaria of late? No? Never heard of it? Well your probably not alone. In the book Maps of the Ancient Sea Kings by Charles H Hapgood 1996 edition Tartaria is featured at least twice, first on page 44 figure 20. The Robert Thorne Map of 1527 and then again although Tartaria is greatley reduced in size on page 81 figure 49. The Oronteus Finaeus World Map of 1532. Anybody interested? Could it have been wiped off the later maps by giant mud slides?

This place sounds interesting and maybe today its culture still survives in places like Poland and Hungary. I wonder if Tartaria is where the word Tartan comes from although I know its supposed to be from Scotland. Has anybody else found anything on Tartaria in old books? Was this a reset?
