The following is my own interpretation/opinion and mine only, heavily inspired by this post:

I have experienced the Mandela affect many times without having a word for it.

Back in the 80s, Mandela had been in prison for decades and no end was in sight. At his old age of 70, still in prison, a concert for him was held in London.

The natural conclusion in most minds at the time: he will not get out, he will die in prison.

This was something more or less expected and accepted by the public.

What is your conclusion when you hear or learn something?

Do you sometimes not listen to follow-up parts and rather lose yourself in your own thoughts?

This happened to me very many times where looking back, a different reality could have (should have) kicked in at times.

Again: this is what I get out of it. And if this is different than what others have experienced, then we need to find a new name for several other phenomena... or not.

Added:

Among other things, the Mandela effect demonstrates the power of suggestions, be they intentional or not. And accepted suggestion, a seed if you will, can take on a life of its own. When dealing with alien abduction claims for example, all of those making the claims to have been abducted, have experienced an abduction in real life but at the hands of human(s).

The death of Mandela in prison was accepted by many, and what followed later, seemed too surreal for some to process.

It would be interesting to see blood type frequencies of those affected by it.
